JUST WHAT IS BOTOX® COSMETIC ?
BOTOX is a purified protein. It is a nonsurgical, physician-administered treatment that can temporarily reduce moderate to severe lines. During treatment, very low doses of BOTOX Cosmetic are administered via a few tiny injections directly into the muscles that cause those stubborn lines. BOTOX is the only treatment of its type approved by the FDA for this use. The treatment is quick, minimally invasive, and nonsurgical. It requires no recovery time and causes little discomfort.
WHAT IS THE TREATMENT LIKE?
Upon your consultation, Dr.Merchant will determine exactly where to administer the injections to achieve the best results. No anesthesia is required, although he may choose to numb the area with a cold pack prior to injecting. The entire procedure takes approximately 10 minutes. Discomfort is minimal and brief. Most patients compare the sensation of that of a bug bite. You may resume normal activity immediately.
HOW SOON WILL I SEE A DIFFERENCE & WHAT KIND OF RESULTS CAN I EXPECT?
You can expect to see results within days after your treatments. The appearance of the area may continue to improve for up to a week. Visible results can last up to 4 months, and after that you may be ready to return for a follow-up treatment. However, if you decide not to continue with BOTOX Cosmetic, the treated area will eventually go back to its pre-treatment appearance.
HOW BOTOX® COMPARES TO OTHER OPTIONS ?
Compared to other aesthetic treatment options, BOTOX Cosmetic is relatively inexpensive. JUVÉDERM™ is a filler product that is used to restore smoother and more youthful look to the skin. This product is used to reduce the signs of aging and skin imperfections. JUVEDERM not only smoothes superficial lines and wrinkles, it is also used to fill furrows, such as the Nasolabial folds and oral commissures or marionette lines. This product can also be injected into the cheeks to create or restore volume.
JUVÉDERM™ is made of Hyaluronic acid in a viscoelastic gel. Hyaluronic acid is a substance naturally found in the body’s cells. This allows the cells to bind or hold water, and is responsible for maintaining tissue hydratation. Over time, the hyaluronic acid will slowly become absorbed, and will disappear gradually with age. Because this substance is found within the body, and is non-animal in origin, there is no need for preliminary allergy testing.
